About Us
The Riverton Children's Choir is a classically trained, community based choir and admittance is by audition only. The choir
was formed in January 2000 when Christine Mickelsen, Patrece Johnson, and Heidi Christensen set out to create an outstanding
cultural experience for the children in the Riverton area. The children sing music from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic
Eras, sometimes singing in Latin, German, French and Hebrew. The repertoire is balanced with spirituals and popular selections
for variety.
The Riverton Children's Choir has performed at the 2002 Winter Olympics, Temple Square,
the Provo Tabernacle, and the South Towne Expo Center. The choir was invited to sing the winning entries in a music writing
contest for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and has performed side-by-side concerts with Voice Male, the
Bar J Wranglers, Eclipse, Enoch Train, and Jericho Road.
The Riverton Children's Choir is funded
in part by Zoo, Arts and Parks. Members pay a small membership fee that includes their music, choir robe, and the CDs they
make.
